Well, I didn’t think I’ll be saying this, but Astro Bot is a 10/10. Like, no cap, the game is really good, and it surprised me with how much it had going for it. With the level design, all the bots you can collect, the moment to moment gameplay, and cute little Astro Bot himself.
I knew this game was going to be good, or atleast a enjoyable time, but it blew me even more away than what I previously thought. Many people and reviewers are giving it a 10/10, which means it’s even surpassing Wukong.
But even with its high praise, it being a Playstation exclusive, might harm it when it comes to sales. I’m truly curious as to how good the sales for this game will be. Playstation is known for its story rich, and high graphic games like Uncharted, Last of Us, and Horizon Zero Dawn. So Astro Bot with its, none important story ass, coming into a Playstation owners view. Will they even be interested in giving the game a try?
I wouldn't want to play this little fucker either.
And I guess that brings us to the only problem with the game, the story. It’s not like it’s a bad story, it’s just nothing special and pretty much used to get from point a to point b. Which, you kind of expect from a platform game that’s rated E. So it’s hard to really take points away from it because of that. I'm also not really a fan of the motion control interactions most of the time. Also, the enemy designs are nothing memorable like the ones from games like Kirby and Mario. But you know what is memorable, the other Astro Bots.
A love letter to many Playstation IPs, old and new, that any Playstation and hell, video game fans, would appreciate. We even got Astro Bot cameos that blew my mind. I expected characters like Nathan Drake and Crash, but who the fuck would have expected characters like Aigis, Alucard, and Kazuya.
For me personally, I feel like this game is a solid 9 out of 10, but I feel like if I was looking at it objectively, the game is crafted with such care and love, that I can’t disagree with the overall 10 out of 10 that everyone is giving it. Now will it get Game of the Year? Well that’s another question for another time.
Move over Black Myth Wukong, a new Game of the Year contender, is here.
